Succession: Leonard Lauder to stand down from the ELC Board

THE WHAT? The Estee Lauder Companies has announced that Chairman Emeritus, Leonard Lauder has decided not to stand for re-election to the company’s Board of Directors in November. He will remain in his role of Chairman Emeritus.

THE DETAILS Leonard Lauder has the right to designate two directors of the company and, in addition to Executive Chairman William P Lauder, he has designated his son Gary M Lauder. The Board has nominated Gary Lauder and will include his name among the nominees for election at the AGM.

THE WHY? Leonard Lauder commented, “I continue to believe in the success of our company through the skillful and thoughtful management by William, Fabrizio, and the entire leadership team. The nomination of Gary to the Board further reflects my family’s long-term stewardship, and our support of the vision, values, and people who will drive the Company’s future success. As Chairman Emeritus of the Company, I’m looking forward to continuing my work as advisor and ‘Chief Teaching Officer’, serving what I believe to be the best Company in the world.”
