Revlon Sued Over Alleged Misleading “Ammonia Free” Claim

THE WHAT?  Revlon is sued over alleged ammonia content in a product marketed as “ammonia free.”

THE DETAILS  The plaintiff, who has an ammonia allergy, claims that Revlon’s Creme of Nature Moisture-Rich Hair Color contains ammonia, despite the “ammonia free” label. After using the product, Givens reported an allergic reaction, including swollen lymph nodes and chemical burns on her scalp. A test she conducted purportedly confirmed the presence of ammonia in the product.

THE WHY? The lawsuit highlights potential misleading advertising by Revlon and aims to address concerns over consumer health risks. This comes after a separate lawsuit last year where another Revlon brand, Almay, was accused of false marketing regarding its product content.
