THE WHAT? The US Environmental Protection Agency is hoping to bring in limits to the levels of forever chemicals in drinking water, according to a report published by Reuters.

THE DETAILS The regulatory body is proposing a national drinking water standard for PFAS, requiring public water systems to monitor levels of so-called ‘forever chemicals’ and take action to curb quantities.

THE WHY? EPA Administrator, Michael Regan said in a statement, per Reuters, “EPA’s proposals to establish a national standard for PFAS in drinking water is informed by the best available science, and would help provide states with the guidance they need to make decisions that best protect their communities.”
