THE WHAT? The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom has taken to social media to declare that the US State will not ‘do business’ with Walgreens Boots Alliance over the drugstore chain’s decision to cease dispensing abortion drug mifepristone in Republican states, according to a report published by Investing.

THE DETAILS Walgreens was quick to defend its decision, in a statement seen by Investing, it explained, “We intend to be a certified pharmacy and will distribute Mifepristone only in those jurisdictions where it is legal and operationally feasible.”

THE WHY? Newsom couldn’t have been clearer, tweeting, “California won’t be doing business with Walgreens – or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk.”
