THE WHAT? Unilever has announced a voluntarily recall of two Suave 24-hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirants after an internal review showed slightly elevated levels of benzene in some product samples.
THE DETAILS All lots of the products in question Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant Fresh and Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant Powder) with an expiration through September, 2023 should be pulled from shelves and consumers are advised to cease use and discard of the product appropriately.
THE WHY? Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen and exposure can result in cancers and blood disorders. However, Unilever was keen to point out that daily exposure to benzene in the recalled products at the levels detected in testing would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences.
