THE WHAT? Mary Kay has announced it is to dedicate some of its manufacturing capabilities to produce hand sanitizer, and will donate the first product run to those on the front line of the coronavirus outbreak. 

THE DETAILS In a bid to get the initiative off the ground, the direct sales giant has been working to secure raw materials, determine packaging availability, prep manufacturing production, and ensure shipping.

The company will dedicate the first wave of hand sanitizers to Baylor Scott & White, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas. 

THEY WHY? Mary Kay’s efforts align with many companies within the cosmetics industry, who are using their business capabilities to support those fighting the coronavirus on the ground.

David Holl, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Mary Kay Inc, said, “Though we are facing extraordinary challenges during the COVID-19 global pandemic, the world is finding ways to adjust –with little or no warning. Producing hand sanitizer to combat this crisis is how we can support those on the front lines.”
