THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble’s Nigerian arm has partnered with the SIL Group and Ugee Chemicals to manufacture Ariel detergent and other laundry powders as well as locally produced raw materials under one roof, according to a report published by Vanguard.

THE DETAILS SIL Group is Nigeria’s largest producer of HLAS, a key ingredient in many of P&G’s products.

THE WHY? The deal will not only strengthen P&G’s local manufacturing footprint but also create operational efficiencies, enable production and distribution on a much larger scale, address supply chain weaknesses, and, in turn, deliver better value to stakeholders.
