DFS to open seven star luxury retail destination in Hainan

THE WHAT? DFS has announced that it will open a seven-star retail and entertainment destination in Sanya, Hainan, China by 2026. DFS Yalong Bay, as the new 128,000 sq m site will be known will feature more than 1,000 luxury brands.

THE DETAILS The LVMH-owned retailer’s stablemates will, of course, feature prominently with elevated immersive concepts across multiple categories. The project is forecast to attract more than 16 million visitors by 2030.

THE WHY? Benjamin Vuchot, DFS Chairman and CEO, reveals, “Yalong Bay represents a key entry point to Hainan which the China Government plans to turn into the world’s largest free-trade port. In addition to this strong policy, Hainan also offers luxurious resorts, beautiful sandy white beaches and high-end medical facilities. Hence, we believe that Hainan is well-poised to become one of the fastest growing luxury markets in the world maximizing both domestic and international consumption.”
