Chanel creates industry alliance to improve traceability

THE WHAT? Chanel has formed an alliance of 15 beauty manufacturers with the goal of improving traceability within the industry. The Traceability Alliance for Sustainable Cosmetics is sponsored by the Federation des Enterprises de la Beaute and aims to address traceability at scale.

THE DETAILS According to a report published by WWD, members include Albea, Groupe Clarins, Cosfibel, Dior, The Estee Lauder Companies, L’Occitane en Provence, L’Oreal, Merck, Neyret, Nuxe, Pochet Group, Sensient, Shiseido and Sisley. The group will work together to map their supply chains across the whole value chain on a single platform.

THE WHY? The Alliance told WWD, “In the long term, the consortium aims to develop a collective approach to the risk analysis of social and environmental risks in supply chains, to interpret the data collected and define common progress plans.”
